Mmmmmm.....food!

Alex is eating solids!  He is 6 1/2 months old now and loves rice cereal!  He has also had avocado and sweet potato both of which he likes one day and doesn't the next.  It is fun to move into this next phase of learning and growing with him.  He also has 5 teeth!  He loves being a "big boy" and sitting at the table with us while he eats!

Changing every day

Well I have been slacking on writing on the blog.  I am going to be better!!  Alex is growing and changing every day.  It is amazing how quickly he masters things.  He can sit up on his own for a long time.  At some point he will decide he is tired and just plop over.  So cute!  He has two teeth popping through, he is working on crawling and will probably be moving pretty soon!  We went to the beach in San Diego over Thanksgiving and Alex loved the sand between his toes and the cold ocean water!  We are loving everyday with him!  His giggle melts my heart.

A growing boy

Alex had his 4 month checkup this week.  He is 15 lbs and 2ft 1 in tall!  He got shots and took them like a champ. He rolled over for the first time- back to tummy and back over this week as well.  I can't believe what a wonderful personality he is developing.  He is such a blessing to our family.  We feel lucky every day that we get to watch such a precious little one grow up.  On that note sleep training sort of went by the wayside last week.  We are committed to giving it a full hearted effort this week.  If I call you in tears it's because we may be up alot during the night.  I trust that the end result will be beneficial for Alex.  Growing boys need their sleep!  This picture is blurry because he is such a mover I can't get a pic of him staying still :)

Sleeping baby

Well the first night of "sleep training"  was so smooth and not traumatic!  We were all geared up and mentally ready for the crying.  I nursed Alex at 8:30pm and he fell asleep.  I put him in his crib and he slept without a peep until 5am!  Tonight I nursed him again at 8:30pm and put him down really drowsy but awake and he fell right asleep.  Hmmm.... this seems easy.   I'm not going to call it a success yet but we are feeling happy.  He took two naps in his crib today- one he was asleep when I put him in there and one where Papa put him down awake, he fussed for a few minutes then fell asleep.  I have all my fingers and toes crossed that things keep going at this rate!

Home again Home again

I am getting going on this blog.  What a fun way to keep everyone updated on the life of our little guy!  We got home today from our first trip on an airplane!  Alex did awesome!  He nursed during take off then slept through both flights.  His ears never seemed to bug him and he talked to all the people around us.  We had lots of fun in Denver seeing all of Alex's tias.  Lucy's baby shower was great!  We can't wait to have another BBB baby :)  Tonight we start "sleep training."  I hate that term but it is basically training Alex to self soothe and go to sleep on his own.  I asked every parent I saw this weekend and they all assured me that it is the best thing not only for Kevin and I but for Alex too.  Hearing him cry will be hard but I know it will be good for our family.  I will let you all know how we fare.  It's about time to take our other child, Holly our 16 month old boxer, to her training class.  Hopefully she listens tonight and mama doesn't need to much help from the trainers. Thanks for reading this!
